THE STORY OF MUSHROOMS
HOW IT BEGAN
Mushroom Studios started with a simple idea: create a space where musicians feel at home. Back in 2012, we opened our first studios in Musselburgh - hand-built by Ross, filled with gear musicians actually wanted to play, and grounded in a no-fuss, welcoming vibe. It quickly became a go-to for local bands and artists.
In early 2025, a fire in a neighbouring unit brought that chapter to a sudden close. But it didn’t stop us. Within a month, we were back - now based at Fenton Barns, just outside North Berwick, and more determined than ever.
WHERE WE ARE NOW
The new space is more than just a rebuild - it’s a level-up. With two fully equipped rooms and our newly launched MRM Pro Room, we’ve taken everything that worked before and made it better.
From carefully treated acoustics to an ever-growing collection of high-end gear (check our blog for the full kit rundown), it’s all here and ready to go.
WHAT'S NEXT
We’re not stopping here. With a third room in the works and fresh ideas brewing - from potential rock schools to creative collaborations - we’re laying the groundwork for even more ways to support local music.
It’s early days for some of these plans, but we’re excited about what’s ahead and where it could take us.
